Unrecognizable apparitions and untraceable coordinates form the unknown side of life.In Cong’s work, such immeasurable points become condensed narrative images.

This exhibition unfolds through Cong’s cool perspective and a macro-scale narrative, addressing the separations hidden within the passage of time. He believes that “relationships between people develop through a long process of social learning. There are moments of companionship and encounter, but intimacy is always temporary. Each of us must eventually move toward our own ending.” Once we accept that meeting and parting are the normal state of life, those solitary moments when we recalibrate our inner coordinates become the most honest form of romanticism. After all, within each person’s system of coordinates, the only constant that never escapes is the self.

As all drifting coordinates gradually fall into stillness, the trembling states that Cong presents become a form of tenderness offered to an unknown world. While we travel alone along our respective number lines, we are in fact sharing the same equation of freedom. The moments marked by these apparitional dots are, at this very instant, rewriting the initial values of our encounters.
